When God questions us…
A neighbor, a colleague, someone we are familiar with, can question our ways of doing, or our attitude in a given situation – this is something usual.
Bu when it is God who does this, then the situation is altogether different… the implications go much deeper…

It is the case in the scene that we contemplate today where Jesus himself addresses us (Luke 6:46):
“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?”
A question that challenges us…
Words that call us to examine our attitude, yes, but more still…
Addressing himself to us in this way, Jesus invites us to consider our personal relationship with him.
Are we satisfied with a verbal profession of faith without a personal commitment on our part?
Do we rely on traditional formulas of prayer without accepting what he asks from us?
It may be that we do not dare to take on the narrow path which he shows us to follow him –
“the way which leads to life”, he assures us (Matthew 7:13-14).
This period of Lent is a good occasion to get on the road following this path…
