
This seems to be a reasonable desire – to be certain, not to be mistaken.
One cannot always depend on hearsay – other people may have not observed correctly…
This was the apostle Tomas’ position: he wanted to be assured that what the other apostles were saying was not simply wishful thinking (John 20:19-31).
Jesus alive? He had been crucified and laid in a tomb – who could believe he was now appearing to people?
