The gospel of omission, of the lack of attention and the lack of compassion.
It could be called: the gospel of… absenteeism.

The questions that it asks accuse us:
Where were we?
How is it that we did not see?
Why have we not helped?
Is it possible that we did NOT recognize HIM?…
In these, our days, he still says:
“I was hungry… I was thirsty… I was a stranger… naked… sick… in prison…
As you neglected to do… to one of the least of these… you neglected to do it to me…” (Matthew 25:35-46).
For a long time, we may have failed to recognize him… now we need to learn to know him – know him anew…
