The gospel text beginning this celebration – Palm Sunday – presents many aspects that draw our attention and can inspire our reflection (Luke 19:28-40).
The scene is filled with people: Jesus and his apostles, the Pharisees, the owners of a colt, and the crowd accompanying Jesus.
He is on the way to Jerusalem, and he stops to speak to two of his disciples – he sends them on an errand.
An errand that appears a little strange, it awakens our curiosity.

What strikes me is that these two disciples leave without any question:
Why should they get a colt?
What are they to do if the owner refuses to let them borrow his animal?
What if the colt they are to fetch is not there?
If the animal stubbornly refuses to follow, should they choose another?
The two men have listened to Jesus, and we are not told that they said, or asked, anything – they seemed to have gone without any further thought than that of carrying out what Jesus asked of them.
These two men trust Jesus.
He is the Master they have been following for some three years now, and they rely on him – they do not question his requests, or his demands.
The simple mention: “The Lord needs it”, is sufficient for them.
As Christians, we have been taught the three essential attitudes of faith, hope, and charity.
To me, there is another which is essential as well, it is that of trust, relying on the Lord.
Relying on the Lord for everything, in every situation, no matter what!
Trusting him for everything that touches us and those dear to us.
Confiding to him our present, our life, our death, and what will follow…
Surrendering to him all that is of concern to us… what we are faced with… what we feel anxious about…
leaving all to his care for us.
This might be the appropriate way as we enter the Holy Week…
Learning from him who, very soon, will say:
“Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” (Luke 23:46).
