The texts of the Bible come to us in different forms.
Those who have transmitted to us their message used different styles and ways of speaking.
Some of them were prophets, others were poets.
Every week, this section offers you a reflection on one of the readings, occasionally referring to two of them.
Today, exceptionally, our reflection will focus on the Psalm – the prayer/poem (Psalm 145:8-13) used as a response to the 1st reading.
The author gives us a truly insightful and inspiring picture of God.
‘The Lord is gracious… compassionate… rich in love.

The Lord is good to all;
he has compassion on all he has made…
The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises,
faithful in all he does.”
Artists can make different illustrations of GOD – how he appears to them, how they visualize him.
An artist painter, a sculptor, a potter… each will give GOD attributes that their respective imagination suggests to them.
The author of the Psalm here has allowed himself to be touched, could we say, by God’s graciousness, his compassion, his love.
He has experienced God’s goodness, his trustworthiness, his faithfulness.
It is interesting to note that the word ‘all’ comes back four times in these few short lines.
“The Lord is good to ALL
compassionate to ALL
trustworthy in ALL he promises,
faithful in ALL he does…”
No commentary would do justice to such a text…
Allowing ourselves to be touched… and to experience… is the appropriate way to know… personally…
