To SAVE…
Saving one’s belongings, saving one’s business, saving one’s reputation, saving… one’s life – everyone gives himself, or herself, to that.
It is an essential of human existence, we do it relentlessly.
But… ‘saving one’s life’, what does this imply?
A few words of Jesus outline what this requires (Luke 9:24-25):
“For whoever wants to save their life will lose it,
but whoever loses their life for me will save it.”

We pause… We wonder… We may also worry, perhaps…
These words are challenging… To what extent will this demand go?
Jesus adds:
“What good is it for someone to gain the whole world,
and yet lose or forfeit their very self?”
To lose one’s life… for the sake of Christ…
To abandon the pursuit of selfish satisfactions to accept his own values…
To leave aside our petty ambitions to choose the life project to which he invites us…
To know how to adjust oneself to what he proposes, and which leads far beyond the immediate…
Not to limit our preoccupations to what concerns us, but to become aware of the needs of the people around us…
Day by day, he will inspire our choices, our decisions, the orientations that he wants us to take…
His Spirit will invite us with insistence…
We should not miss the occasion… risking to move on a way that leads to a dead end…
