If you were to ask me what I find the most difficult to be like Jesus, my reply would come without delay – it is to FORGIVE.
Forgive “from your heart” (Matthew 18:35), this is what he asks for, what he expects from us, his disciples.
He says so, very clearly, to Peter who was asking the question (Matthew 18:21-22):
“How many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me?”

Believing himself to be generous, Peter had suggested: “Seven times?”
The answer of Jesus also came without delay:
“I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.”
In other words… we should not count…
If I tried to count all the times that God has forgiven me, I would not manage, it is obvious.
It is also obvious that I do not succeed either in forgiving as he does – impossible, I am convinced of this.
There remains a solution: to ask him to forgive for me, through me, the person who asks for my forgiveness.
To ask him to transfer HIS forgiveness to whoever asks for it from me… without counting…
