Are you happy?
If someone asked you this question, would you give a positive answer without any reflection?
Or, would you hesitate to answer as you examine the different factors which, according to you, contribute to happiness?
It is true that different elements can give a sense of satisfaction and contentment, even a sentiment close to euphoria.
But in your personal list of those things that lead to happiness, is there what, according to Jesus, is characteristic of a happy person? (Luke 11:27-28).
One day, as she was listening to him speaking, a woman filled with admiration said to Jesus:
“Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts which nursed you!”

To this, Jesus answered immediately:
“Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”
In conversation, when we use the word ‘hear’, we refer to a sound, a word, a noise – this is the first meaning.
But it happens that we use this same word ‘hear’ to draw someone’s attention and imply that the person should then do what we have said.
Parents will ask a child: “Did you hear what I said”, expecting that the child should ‘obey’.
Regarding God’s word, we need to make sure that… we hear and… we act accordingly!
There is happiness found… in Jesus’ way.
