God has given us many gifts, he has filled our lives with his blessings of all kinds.
One of these gifts which we sometimes forget about is precisely our memory.
The special ability to remember people and places, happenings and situations.
People of different places and cultures find it important to remember special events and some remarkable people that have had an impact on their history.
In many places, the citizens have fixed a day of the year to remember those who have given their lives for their countries.
Remembering…
We could say that today – Holy Thursday – is ‘Remembrance Day’ – for Christians.
In fact, on the eve of his death, Jesus himself has told his apostles to make of this day a memorial in a very definite way.

“He took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying,
“This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me” (Luke 22:19).
Remember him – who he is, what he wants to be for us…
Remember him – what he has done for us, what he keeps doing for us, from day to day…
Remember him – his permanent presence, his unfailing care, his reliable help, his constant forgiveness…
Remember him – his love… deep, personal, unconditional…
HE ever remembers us…
Amazingly, there is one thing that God does NOT remember!
He has said so though his messengers who have repeated it:
“I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.” (Jeremiah 31:34)
“I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins.” (Hebrews 8:12)
A wonderful thing, indeed, for us NOT to forget!
