“God loved the word so much that he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him may not be lost but may have eternal life” (John 3:16).
In terms of measure, intensity, depth… what could be added?
It is God who gives, and it is… for us!

These words were first addressed to Nicodemus, “one of the Pharisees, a leading Jew”.
As a Pharisee, he must have been familiar with the language about God!
Jesus acknowledges this saying: “You, a teacher in Israel…”
But Nicodemus does not understand, any more than we do as we remain astonished facing such a reality:
God who gives himself in such a way… and for what?
“So that everyone who believes in him may not be lost but may have eternal life.”
A gift without condition, or rather only one… BELIEVING.
